100% mulberry silk (real silk) is delicate; cared for properly it lasts for years. Below is the advice our factory gives clients daily, for your reference after receiving the scarves.
Use cold or room-temperature water (≤30°C) with a little neutral silk/wool detergent; press gently — never rub or wring. If machine washing, always use a mesh bag on the "silk / delicate" cycle, and don't wash with zippers or buttoned garments to avoid snags.
Use only a neutral, fluorescent-free silk/wool detergent; no alkaline soap or bleach. Rinse two or three times with clean water; a few drops of white vinegar in the last rinse help restore sheen (just a little).
After washing, lay the scarf flat on a towel, roll it up and press gently to absorb water — never wring. Unroll and dry in a cool, ventilated place, avoiding direct sun — UV yellows and embrittles silk. Don't use a hairdryer or heater.
When half-dry, iron on the reverse at low temperature (≤150°C), ideally over a thin cloth; if fully dry, mist with a little water first to prevent shine marks. A steam iron held 1–2 cm above the fabric also works.
Once completely dry, wrap in acid-free tissue or hang on a padded hanger, avoiding direct contact with metal hooks; don't spray mothballs, perfume or deodorant directly on the scarf. For long storage use a breathable cotton/linen bag — never sealed plastic.
